Ingredients for Preparing Misti Doi
The misti doi recipe is very simple. It can be prepared by two methods. I will try to help you to share both recipes for Misti doi.
Here are the ingredients-
- Milk- 1 liter
- Sugar powder- 1.5 cups
- Plain Yoghurt- 2 tablespoon
- Palm Jaggery- ¾ cup
The Method of Preparing Misti Doi
We will discuss two methods today which will completely elaborate on how to make misti doi at home with very simple and basic steps. Let's check out the steps.
Step 1:
Take a big bowl. Pour the milk. Let heat the milk in a medium flame.
Step 2:
When the milk comes to boil the layer of malai or dry milk will come above. Scrape it and set it at the inner side of the bowl. Keep doing it till the milk becomes
half.
Step 3:
Now mix all the dry layered milk with the thickened milk. Add 1 cup sugar powder and again mix well. Make sure the flame is low.
Step 4:
Meanwhile, take another small bowl. Pour the rest of the sugar and heat it in a low flame to caramelize it. This will take hardly 3-4 mins.
Step 5:
Now take the plain yogurt. Beat it before use. Add this yogurt to the milk. Mix it very well without leaving any lump.
Step 6:
At this point, you can separate the milk in small earthen pots or pour into a big deep earthen pot. Seal the lids with waterproof or foil paper. Leave it in a safe place in a warm place for 8 to 9 hours to settle down.
Step 7:
When you see that the Misti Doi sweet has settled properly; keep it in the refrigerator for cooling. Leave it minimum for 12-24 hours.
2nd Method for Making Misti Doi
All the steps are just the same as mentioned above. Only two or three steps are different. So, here are the steps.
Step 1:
Boil the milk in a medium flame.
Step 2:
Make the volume of the milk half from the original.
Step 3:
Grade all the jaggery finely.
Step 4:
Now, add the jaggery to the milk. Whisk it properly to get melt. Keep the flame low to medium.
Step 5:
Switch off the flame. Add plain curd and mix well without leaving any lump. Beat the curd before adding it to the milk.
Step 6:
Seal the lid and keep it in a warm place. Leave it for 8-10 hours to settle the curd.
Step 7:
Then, keep it in the refrigerator, a minimum of 12 hours.
